laderies & gentalamen,

it is here.

http://cdbaby.com/cd/tiredorbit3

the last you'll ever hear from the shockwave riders?

the last you'll ever hear from the tired orbit?

these things seem likely, it is true.

even though, it is not what the prophecies would have us bereave.

(double entendre?)

--

this is a limited edition run of (4) units. which is hardcore limited edition. but i can make more if i need to. it's cheaper than making one thousand, which is not cheap.

or! you can wait until the entirety becomes available on iTunes, Yahoo Music, et al.

we are sluts for the modern technolologies. besides, no one buys holdable product anymore.

but that should happen within the next month or two. i will surely send reminders.

Our Lourds of The Ring CD-R is selling like cold cakes, which means they are slowly but surely disappearing. Yes! You too can own one of your own ones. There are a very limited number in the whole of the universe, because we did not honestly expect to sell any more than zero. Here is the buyage link:

"The Shining", the immaculately huge-sounding Shockwave Rider debut, is available for only five dollars at CDBaby. Although the American Red Cross benefit has ended, it is still only five bucks. Here's that link:

Also! Both Shockwave Rider and LoTR are available on your favourite digital music places, such as iTunes and Yahoo Music. Give that shit five stars, son! Maybe even download a couple songs for something like seventy cents apiece. Sweet! Remember I'll get at least a nickel for that!

Jesus, is this like sea change? Is the human race evolving before our very eyes?

Can the world even handle another Shockwave Rider record?

If so, should it be on vinyl?

These are all questions for... later.

Well, as Eric Agnew used to prophesize:

l8r,

-Tim.

Hello friends of the tired orbit,

Please be informed that all sales of product previously available through this site have been moved to CDBaby.com, which is an excellent place for people like us.

In addition, all sales of Shockwave Rider's "The Shining" will benefit the American Red Cross, for their Hurricane Katrina relief effort. Ten dollars gets you this prized possession, and adds a little assistance to those who are in dire need of it.

Here is the link. Please use it!

The Lourds of the Ring CD-R will also be available via CDBaby.com in about another week.

In the not-so-distant future, we have another Shockwave Rider release, awaiting imminent manufacture. Stay tuned!

CANADA OH CANADA I'VE NEVER BEEN YOUR SON.

No, seriously.

There is new Shockwave Rider stuff. It is roughly produced, totally sequenced and in CD-R form. It is a gem at the beginning of an age that could very well be mostly Shockwave Rider -less.

What should we do with it? Shall we press it for you? Will you make salivating gestures for us?

Also, Lourds of the Ring CD-R's are available for purchase. If interested, please email us at mailorder at thetiredorbit.com

In the deep deep future, you should never expect a release from a mysterious entity named tired orbital, featuring a slew of amateur and untalented minimalism. And I mean never.

Friends, I realize that we have been very quiet here. Honestly, there hasn't been much going on.
Until now.

This week, I will be sending out catalog # tto-00000002 for duplication.

The second tired orbit release is one which was originally just for fun. I think our very first gathering was just about a year ago to the day.

On that cold winter day, five fellows came together to realize a dream. Or a hallucination. That wasn't the profound part, though. They had come together many times before.

The profound part was that this time, there was a keyboard. And there were lyrics inspired by JRR Tolkien. And there was a penchant for playing PROGROCK as best they could.

The Lourds of the Ring was born.

A five-part rock-n-roll suite, which contemplated the wherewhithal of wizards and men, followed shortly after.

And then, sensitive ELP-style acoustic ballads appeared. And then Arwen-induced emo. And then strange and angular hooks which induced the singer to scream out names of geographical locations that an ent might be accostumed to.

And after a year of mastering, or attempting to master the sludgy fourtrack recordings, the lourds learned to love them in their best possible forms.

This will be a short-run release, and so we are making CDRs rather than pressing CDs.

But, for an indeterminate amount of time, all songs will also be downloadable on this site. Feel free to try them out. They are located in the Catalog section. By all means, if you like what you hear, please be in touch about buying an official copy.

The record has been titled "Where Have the Wizards Gone?". It has songs about wizards, and riders of Rohan, and Gollums and Treebeards and Sarumans and other things that almost fill the hole left by a lack of new LotR feature films.

-

And for those who are wondering, Shockwave Rider have not been sitting on their laurels, either. As a matter of fact, they have forty-one new songs ready for the world, forty-one more on the way. How's that for output?

The triple LP (the first since Yes' 1972 effort "Yessongs", I believe) is still a ways off. I will surely let you know when it happens.

Normally, this column would be notifying you and the rest of the public about things, imminent or upcoming, which may be of interest. Such as shows.

On this column, we strive to tell you about the things that you did not know about earlier, and hence missed out on.

Shockwave Rider played at McCormick's Irish Pub down in Shockoe Bottom on Thursday night, September the 30th. They had to wait their turn, as there were a couple of scream-o bands that had earned the opening slot. And if the sound guy would've had his way, they probably wouldn't have played at all.

But the SWR stuck it out, and then they showed ALL exactly how it was going to be.

When I say "all", I mean something like six or seven people. But we attribute that to our admittedly slacker attempt at promotion. No fliers, no notifications, no nothing.

We are deeply sorry that y'all missed out.

New MP3's are up in the Artist section:

The album versions of Burn Bright and Bend the Light are now available for download.

That riff in Burn Bright? That bass line in Bend the Light? OMFG!

Awww yeah! Things are getting exciting, now.

We are very close to receiving the new Shockwave Rider CD back from the pressing plant! It's so full of chique artwork, folded nicely into an extravagent (generic) "jewel case", as it is known within the industry, and when you put the shiny silver disc into your CD player, great & wond'rous rock-n-roll begins to fill the void of your life!

The new CD was finally dubbed "The Shining", after a week of brainstorming, brain-racking, arguments, fisticuffs, mental breakdowns, and epiphanetic vulgaries...

The Catalog has now been updated, and you can order the new CD from there. We are, like, totally in business.

For all of you Shockwave Rider fans out there, please don't miss them in the breathtaking "live & outdoors" setting, as they will be playing on Sunday, May 23rd at the Bottom Line Tap & Grill, in the Shockoe Bottom area of Richmond, VA. (It's on Main, between 18th and 19th) Make it your lunch plans, as they're expected to take the stage around 3PM. (There will be lots and lots of bands...)

It'll be a great time, had in Virginia's wonderful springtime weather.

We will make our best efforts to have the new CD on-hand at the show, so that those in awe may express it appropriately, but as of now it seems doubtful. You may have to lower yourselves into the world of mailorder.

Or do not fret. Shockwave Rider will be having many more shows this summer, methinks. Stay tuned here, to find out when & where.

Thank you for your humbling patronage.

-Tim.

Welcome to the on-line home of Tired Orbit Records, a future stalwart of the independent music community, and based with love & tenderness in Richmond Virginia.

This is the very first update for this fledgling brilliance, and I am happy to let you all know that the very first Tired Orbit release is not very far away.

For even now, as the snow accumulates and traps us inside our homes, a beautiful thing called "rock and roll" is in movement, a shapeless energy which is set to take on physical form and declare total warfare upon your Ho-Hum existences!

Yes, that's right. Shockwave Rider has completed mixing their new album. Very soon, it will be be sent with haste via the Postal Service's most honored attendants, into the hands of a very lucky squad of talented lads who will take it upon themselves to master the recordings, and give the sound a holiness thought unattainable in the mortal world.

And as soon as we get it back, we shall make many copies, and then, and then, and then, we will proliferate and let them do all of the taking over.

And if you'd like to just get the taking over over with, then stay tuned to this very webpage to find out how you can order the new CD directly from Tired Orbit Records utilizing mail-order. With your help, we can make the mailmen and mailwomen of the world earn their money. They've had it too good for too long.

Click on the "artists" link in the above frame to find out more about Shockwave Rider and to download a few teasers from the upcoming record. (We are good to you, so be sure to be good to us.)

Sincerely, your friend,

-Tim Miller, tired orbit records
