Did you know that you are not doomed, but your children are? I have seen all of the specials. If they exist, future generations will despise this one, and the few before. We are still earning our reputations. There is reeling, and there is not much to be done. Perhaps an endlessly swimming polar bear will finally drowntomorrow, and the carcass will sink, cascade down, down, down, down, down, to the warmm and pinkk flesh of the Arctic floor, and will come to rest, icy only in his repose, against a mighty, mighty Reset Button. Mercy with asphyxia.

Demons at play empty the ice cube tray. You are out of tonic anyway.

Demons at rest when you're looking yr best. You are so smart, it is almost sinister. What's that?

After they have fallen from favour for a good long while, perhaps I will come back on ships with flags and distortion pedals. The prophecy foretells of misguided Medinians, doesn't it anyway? This is what happens when packmules disappear from the places that they have made for us. Some of the things we cannot do alone, Sal.

Nathaniel Gillette of the two-twos

Nathaniel lived in Knowlesville. I think he was probably a very meek and quiet country boy and he got talked into signing up with Company F while renting videos in Albion.

He was only 23 when he died so maybe it was two-year-old wounds from Waynesboro, which was a battle that only lasted twenty minutes. How unlucky can one be? He might be the first and last 23-year-old to ever die in Knowlesville.

One hundred yards away and 116 years later, I had an epiphany that allowed me to ride a bicycle without training wheels.

No one comes here except the people who are told to cut the grass, you can tell.

Wilco

This dude's name is Nels Cline. He plays the electric guitar in a band called Wilco.

Prior to last night, when Wilco performed a set of musical songs for citizens of the Greater Toronto Area Who Enjoy Rock And Roll Music, The Tasteful & Well-Executed Guitar Solo (TWEGS) had been in retirement since February 16th, 1979, following a performance of "La Villa Strangiato" in which Alex Lifeson pushed TWEGS a little too far, effectuating a post-concert meltdown which concluded with TWEGS's self-induced ostracism from the world at large.

Last night, TWEGS appeared at the entrance of Massey Hall, proceeded down the main aisle and onto the performance stage during a performance of "Impossible Germany", calmy infused itself with Nels Cline's 51-year-old fingers, and proceeded to shred its first of eleven guitars for the evening.

Sub-molecular bits of fingertips and guitar picks gather themselves into exhausted piles on the stage floor at Massey Hall this morning. Despite the approaching push broom, the bits share a smile.

Low was the opening act. If you are a new reader, perhaps you do not know that Low is my favourite band of all time. Even though the struggles involved with caring for young children and having midlife crises are currently hindering their usually poignant output. Plus, whenever an act plays the opening act role, they are doomed with bad sound and the distractions of a large crowd who are wholly uninterested in them. Liz pretended to have the patience necessary for observing Low, which was very nice of her. So it was my fifth time seeing Low, and the last two times it has been Radiohead and Wilco headlining, so they have been relegated to irrelevance on these occasions. Poor Low.

Today is Canada Day.
